movie quotes
Yesterday I watched one of my favourite movies, and I was still laughing at some of the memorable quotes today. So, for fun, and because I had nothing better to do today, I compiled a list of quotes from some of the movies I like best. See if you can recognize some of them.
Here they are, in no particular order:
1. “You realize we're all going to go to college as virgins. They probably have special dorms for people like us.”
2. “We all go a little mad sometimes.”
3. “When Cameron was in Egypt's land...Let my Cameron go!”
4. “Why worry? Each one of us is carrying an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back.”
5. “If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.”
6. “Movies don't create psychos. Movies make psychos more creative!”
7. “Your powers are weak, old man.”
8. “I work with retards.”
9. “I can't believe it. They're giving you a medal for shooting me, you little prick.”
10. “Ludicrous speed – GO!” (This is probably my favourite movie of all time.)
New Malanka
Last night was Ukranian New Year's. I've never celebrated it before, so I didn't know what to expect. (It's probably better that way. No expectations mean no disappointments!) It turned out to be one of the best times ever! It was at a convention hall about 25 minutes from my place that I never knew existed, and there were over 300 people there. There were a couple of performances from a dance group that was there. (Shocker: I found out that a lot of the Riverdance moves come from Ukranian dancing, not Irish dancing!! Thievery is everywhere!) After a couple of drinks, I tried to do some Ukranian dancing myself. While I wasn't successful, I think I deserve a bit of credit for not breaking my ankle during my attempt at a Cossack dance! We all ended up eating (there were five courses plus a buffet later in the night, and we ordered pizza at 2:30 in the morning!) and drinking (ukranian vodka kicks ass!) WAY too much, and not getting nearly enough sleep. (2 hours just doesn't cut it...)In other words, a good time was had by all! Can't wait to go again next year!
keep on faith
My friend's sister is teaching in Korea at the moment and found the following condoms while shopping at Costco. I thought they were pretty interesting (and hilarious!) so I felt the need to share them with others. The picture caught my attention, but the text is the best part. I checked to see if they were available in Canada. No such luck.Piece!
playing tag
Ok, so if I understand correctly, being tagged (damn you andie!) means that I have to mention three things about myself that nobody knows. Here goes.
1. I like to keep the taste of different foods separate. This means that at dinner, nothing on my plate is allowed to touch, and I have to eat each type of food one at a time to avoid mixing up the tastes in any way.
2. When I was little, my two best friends were imaginary. Kim and Tal were so cool, and I had a lot more fun when I played with them than when I played with my real life friends. When I got older and discovered creative writing, the two of them became recurring characters in several of my short stories.
3. I talk to animals as though they can understand what I’m saying. Sometimes I think they do. My cats have cheered me up on countless occasions, and I’ve gotten some excellent advice from my friend’s hamster. :)
I realize that I’m supposed to tag three new people now, but I want to avoid unnecessarily pissing anyone off, so I’m going to leave that part out. (Unless it’s ok to tag imaginary people, in which case I pick Kim, Tal, and Papa Smurf! Cheers!)
the proof
I had this picture taken to prove that I was actually in Poland. (Hence the Wroclaw sign in the background.) I suppose I could have just used the wonders of photoshop to put myself in there, but those of you that know me are aware that I'm camera-challenged and could never do that. This was taken right before New Years, and the place looked really pretty, although it was also really cold!
This tree reminded me of something out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I loved it from the minute I arrived. When the orange bows were added to it, I loved it even more. I dare you not to think it's cool!
craziness
Has the world gone completely topsy-turvy?
Maybe it’s the time of year, but lately I’ve been hating people I used to love and loving people I used to hate.
Worst of all, I discovered yesterday that my current favourite song is sung by Ashlee Simpson.
Feel free to judge me.
I don't know why
These days I just feel like eating everything in sight. No exaggeration. I don't know what the hell is wrong with me, but I'm not opposed to cannibalism, so if you happen to run into me, don't say I didn't warn you...
Wroclaw 2006 - "It Could Have Been Worse"
The Best Things About Poland1. Spending time with Agnieszka. I kind of wish I'd brought her back with me!2. Eating Polish food. My personal faves were Zurek (a type of soup with potato, meat, and egg sometimes served in a bread bowl - much better than the stuff at Tim Horton's!) and this thing with vegetables in cum sauce inside a pita. (I can't remember the name of it offhand, but it's a lot tastier than it sounds!)3. Meeting so many new people, most of whom weren't actually Polish, but were still extremely cool.4. Learning a few new Polish words. (I can now say yes, no, thank you, vodka with orange juice, and pussy.)5. Finding out that there's just as much drama in Poland as in Canada.6. Polish rap. ("Check out that hottie, she took all my zloty!")
